We all know customers don’t magically appear on your website. They have to come from somewhere, and the most popular place is Google. But do you really need to pay for SEO services every month?
If you ever spoke to an SEO agency, or you’ve read their advertisements – you’ll probably think it all sounds like a bunch of hocus pocus…
And That’s Because It Is.
You’re completely right to think that way, and a lot of agencies will use that mysteriousness to sell companies like yours something they don’t understand.
The truth is, if you want more customers on your website – SEO is a GREAT way of getting there. But SEO companies will often take advantage of that to make money, without creating any real value for your business.
In fact, here’s a screenshot from Google Search Console showing the SEO visitors to my client’s website over the past 16 months.
The previous SEO agency was “utilising white hat, grey hat and black hat tactics to increase the search visibility” – but what they really did was waste time and money.
It even seemed to drop down for a period of time (and I have no idea what colour hat that tactic is)!
That’s Why You Need Proof
I always strongly advise business owners who know they need SEO to ask their potential agency for “Google Search Console Screenshots from existing clients”.
If they can really increase your websites traffic through SEO, they should be more than happy to show you them.
And never buy into the whole “it’s company policy not to show client accounts” nonsense.
Because that’s our policy too, we just blur out the client data and show the results.
Like This:
If you’re like me, you hate spending money on advertising that doesn’t give a positive ROI.
And nothing bothers me more than hearing a customer say they’ve been burned elsewhere.
SEO isn’t a cheap service, and your agency should be getting real results for your business – or they shouldn’t be offering it.
So never use an SEO agency that has a “company policy” to prevent them proving they can do what you’re paying for.
And always, always, always ask for “Google Search Console Screenshots from existing clients”.
