Get Google To Crawl Your Site FAST

Getting Google to crawl your website is now very easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

In this article, I’m going to cover how to get Google to crawl your whole website, as well as how to get Google to crawl a single web page.

Get Google To Crawl My Website

To get Google to crawl your entire website, you need to first create an xml sitemap. You can easily create a sitemap if your website is built using WordPress through the Yoast SEO plugin. See this video here for how to properly set that up.

If you’re using a different CMS, simply do a search for your CMS name and sitemap, for example “Magento Sitemap” or “Joomla Sitemap” – there’s usually tons of free plugs for any CMS.

If you’re not using a CMS, you can manually create a sitemap using a free service like this one, but keep in mind that you’ll have to update it each time you add/remove a web page from your website.

Note: you’ll want to manually go through your sitemap file to ensure there aren’t any pages listed in there that you don’t want indexed in Google before going further with this task.

Submit Sitemap To Google

The next step is to sign into/up to Google Search Console and click on “Sitemaps” in the left hand sidebar.

Paste the end part of your URL into the field titled “Add a new sitemap”. If you’re using Yoast SEO, this will be “sitemap_index.xml”.

add sitemap to search console

Click on the blue submit button and give it a few seconds. After a short period of time you should see a confirmation message.

You have now given Google a list of pages to crawl.

Get Google To Crawl A Single Web Page

The first step is to get the URL of the page you’re trying to get Google to crawl and copy that to your clipboard.

Inspect any URL in [YOUR WEBSITE]

Then sign into/up to Google Search Console and paste the URL into the field with the placeholder text of Inspect any URL in “[YOUR WEBSITE]” and hit enter.

That’ll bring you back a report from Google on whether or not Google has indexed the page.

It may say that the web page is already on Google – and if that’s the case and you’ve not made any changes then there’s no need to ask Google to re-index the page.

request indexing

However if you’ve changed the webpage since it was last indexed or the web page hasn’t been indexed, click on the REQUEST INDEXING link and wait around 2 minutes.

After around 2 minutes you should see a message that says it has been submitted successfully and will be crawled shortly.

How To Check If A Page Is On Google

You can check if a page is on Google in about 2 seconds by copying your URL and pasting it into the Google search with a prefix of “site:”
