In my previous post, I talked about how to generally set up and use AAWP – a WordPress plugin that I, as an affiliate marketer, find to be extremely helpful.
Comparing products to each other or in a group is one of the many tasks marketers do to increase revenue.
Why? Because readers love them. A comparison table makes it easy to display what products are better than the others, how they differ based on pricing, the details of each item, what people are saying about them, and so much more.
Hence, if you are a business owner or a marketer in the Amazon Affiliates Program, a tool such as AAWP[1] can help create comparison tables for almost anything you need. As long as you do it properly, raising your conversion and boosting your revenue will be easier to do with AAWP.
In this article, I’ll be talking about:
- AAWP Comparison Table – what does it do?

AAWP Comparison Table – what does it do?
The AAWP Amazon Affiliate WordPress Plugin offers a feature called Comparison Table.
Essentially, Comparison Tables allow users to create a table comparing two or more products or services from another. We see comparison tables everywhere, especially in marketing, as it effectively displays the differences between products.
This lets consumers choose which one would work best according to their needs. Once a comparison table is clearly showing the pros and cons of each item, it will influence for the consumer to decide between the two.
This is where AAWP’s Comparison Table comes in.
With the plugin, I can create a table, customize its appearance, add details, and more in no time at all.
It’s possible to create a static table that compares products. However, doing so is usually time-consuming. And, in my opinion, basic tables do not look good enough to keep readers interested for very long.
The tables I create with AAWP take me less time and give me attractive displays that are effective in showing comparisons, like this:
Doing this comparison table just took me a few minutes to build.
Compared to having to manually do it without a plugin, the tool saves me so much time.
How do you make a good AAWP Comparison Table?
Creating a comparison table with AAWP is extremely easy.
Essentially, all you have to do is input the ASINs of products in the tool, add some more data about each item, then customize the table to your liking.
Of course, there are a whole lot of options to make your table fit your needs. You can choose to only compare two products, add a custom HTML for a specific description, and even highlight items to recommend them to your readers.
Now, let’s start creating your very first AAWP table.
NOTE: To use the comparison table, you should have an active AAWP subscription first. If you need help with setting up the plugin, feel free to read this: How To Install AAWP On WordPress
The Basics: Creating a New AAWP Comparison Table
Join me in creating an AAWP Comparison Table for the two bookshelves I showed earlier:
Go to your WordPress Dashboard and click on AAWP, then Tables
Another way to do this is to hover your mouse on AAWP, then click on Tables.
Click on Add New
When you’re directed to the Table page, click “Add New”.
Add a recognizable Title
You need to choose a title you recognize for your table as you may find it difficult later on to check one by one, especially if you already have loads saved on your Dashboard.
Get the ASIN of your first product
ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Numbers, which is a unique code Amazon gives to its products.
You will need to enter the ASIN of each product you want to include in your table in this section:
To get the ASIN, you need to go to the product’s Amazon page:
Look for the ASIN by scrolling down to Additional Information, then copy the code:
Paste the ASIN in the blank ASIN field
Click “Add product by ASIN”
Now, I have successfully entered the ASIN of my first product:
Add the ASINs of the other products
Since you are creating a comparison table, you’ll probably have two or more products you’ll want to include.
Continue adding the ASINs of the products using the same process as earlier.
I’ll add the ASIN of my second product:
Copy its ASIN and click on “Add product by ASIN”:
I’m now done with adding the ASINs of the two bookshelves I want to compare to each other:
TIP: Did you know that you can also add an ASIN without having to go to Amazon?
This means that you can add an ASIN by searching for it with the AAWP plugin. Just click on “Search for product(s)”:
Enter your search term:
Then click on “Search Products”.
This will make the tool search the Amazon API and bring out suggestions for the keyword you put.
These are the suggestions for the keyword, Bookshelf:
Once you choose a product, click on it, then click on “Confirm selection”:
Doing so adds the ASIN in the field:
Save your Draft
Before you make further edits, I recommend saving your Draft so that you won’t lose your progress. Scroll up and click on “Save Draft”:
Now that it’s saved, I can continue customizing my table.
How to Set Up Rows to Customize Your Comparison Table
To add more information about each product in your table, we’ll add some rows to customize it.
Of course, since there is so much stuff we can add to our tables to let them fulfill their purpose, the table that works for me may need a bit more tweaking for your website.
Directly underneath the title of your table, you’ll see the Customization section of the AAWP. This is where we’ll make our adjustments:
Here is how I usually customize my comparison table:
1. Add a row for the Image
Personally, I prefer having thumbnails of products to be the first thing my readers see on the comparison table.
I will Add a New Row:
Click on the drop-down list for “Please select”, then choose Thumbnail:
Once selected, I will click on the paperclip icon that allows me to Link output to the product page.
Once that’s done, the image on my table will be clickable and will direct the user to its Amazon page once published.
2. Add a row for the Title
The second thing I’ll add to my table is a Title. This is essentially where the product’s name will be displayed.
I’ll add a new row:
Click on the drop-down list for “Please select”, then choose Title:
Then, I’ll click on the blank field on the left for the label:
And put the label Name:
3. Add the Custom HTML
After adding the image and name of the product, this is where you can start tweaking your table.
As an example, you can have your table display customer reviews, add a shortcode, and so much more by just adding a Custom HTML.
For my table, I want to add three fields to compare the two bookshelves.
- First, I want to add a “Wood” section that will tell what material the bookshelf is made of.
- Second, I want to add a ”Guarantee” section that will say how long the guarantee is for each bookshelf.
- And third, I want to add a “Buy Now” button to direct readers to the Amazon page of the product.
Let’s get started adding Custom HTML rows:
- Custom HTML for Wood
Add a new row:
Click on the drop-down list for “Please select”, then choose Custom HTML:
Put Wood as the label:
This section will allow me to add what material the bookshelf is made from to the table.
To add a description to each product and compare their differences, scroll down and you’ll see the Products section:
I’ll now add the details about what material each bookshelf is made of:
Product 1 is Oak:
While Product 2 is Pine: - Custom HTML for Guarantee
Add a new row and select Custom HTML:
Put Guarantee as the label:
This section will allow me to add how long the guarantee is for each bookshelf.
Scroll down to the Products section:
Then put how long the guarantee is per product:
In this example, let’s assume that both products have a 2-year guarantee: - Custom HTML for the Buy Now button
Add a new row, select Custom HTML, then choose Buy Now Button:
Put Price as the label:
Later on, this will direct users to the Amazon page of the product.
4. Publish the Table
After adding all the details that are suitable for the products I want to compare, I’ll publish the Table.
Scroll to the top and click Publish:
Now that the table is published, I already have it saved on my WordPress website. This means that I can add it to a new or existing post already.
How To Add AAWP Table to WordPress Post
Finally, once we are done publishing the AAWP comparison table, we can now add it to a WordPress post.
To do this, create a new post or edit your existing page, then click on Add block.
Select the AAWP block:
Choose the Comparison Tables, click on Select A Table for the drop-down list, then select the table you made earlier:
Scroll to the top and Save draft:
Then click on Preview.
You can now check to see if your table is being displayed properly.
Here is what mine looks like:
Would you look at that? In just a couple of minutes, I am able to create a comparison table that looks good, contains all the information I need, and is appealing for my readers to see.
How to Highlight a Product
One thing I usually do when creating a comparison table is recommend a better product for my readers.
To do this, I highlight a specific product for them to see which one is a better buy.
In this example, I’ll let you know how I recommend Product 2 with a quick process:
Go back to AAWP > Tables
Find the Table and click Edit
Scroll down to the product you want to highlight, then click on Select Colour
Choose the colour you want
And scroll back up and click Update.
When you click on Preview or reload your page, the product should already be highlighted.
Here is what mine looks like:
Since Product 2 is highlighted in a color that contrasts my site, my readers will assume that it is the one that I am showcasing for their needs.
